I wish I could say that I (and others) were completely wrong about the coming wave of trackback spam, but it looks like we were dead on. Since last night I’ve been hit with more than a dozen pieces of trackback spam. And I’m not the only one, several people mentioned having the same problem on the WordPress hackers email list. I’m not sure if WordPress is specifically being targeted, but they seem to be the ones complaining about it this morning (like Mark Mayo).
Hopefully we’ll be able to come up with a way to prevent trackback spam, but I’m concerned that it will end up with the same result as email spam, which hasn’t slowed down one bit.

So have I. I think it’s one guy, actually. It’s too prominent of a spike to be dispersed.
