I really like Mail.app on Mac OS X. But it has major flaw that I can no longer stand, from time to time it will crash. If all it did was crash though I could deal with that, unfortunately that isn’t all. Often after a crash when I run it again the preferences have been completely trashed. So I rip out all of the mail preferences and either restore from backup (if I have that near by at the time) or configure all of my email accounts again from scratch.
Today was just one crash too many. I couldn’t stand the idea of going through the process of fixing Mail.app one more time. So long Mail.app I’ve moved to Thunderbird for my email needs on Mac OS X. I’ve been using it on Windows for quite awhile so this isn’t a major change for me.
I’m sad that Mail.app and I have to part ways like this, but today was one crash too many. I’m sure when Leopard (10.5) comes out you’ll tempt me to give you one more chance with promises of increased stability. And I’ll probably fall for it, but I warn you, I won’t be as forgiving the next time.

Try GNUMail.app. It is the opensource version of NeXTMail. It’s still a little buggy because GNUstep API are still under development.
