LDS Sacramento Temple Dedicated

Almost 5 1/2 years after it was announced, the Sacramento Temple of The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was dedicated today by President Gordon B. Hinckley. Joining President Hinckley was his counselor President Thomas S. Monson and Elder L. Tom Perry of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles (who used to live in Sacramento).

Sarah and I attended the first of four dedication sessions this morning at 9:00 am in the stake center next to the new temple. The Sacramento Temple is a beautiful structure, I hope to be posting pictures in the coming weeks.

UPDATE Tue 4 Sep 2006 @ 8:20 am : I’m told the final count for the number of visitors during the open house was 168,371, with 10,059 visiting on the final day.

Any update yet on those pictures you mention? I’m foraging for good photos for my screensaver :-). Found a nifty freeware make-your-own-screen-saver utility a while back and am having much fun with it.
