WordPress for iPhone

Here’s the announcement from Matt Thomas on the WordPress for iPhone blog:

We’re live! WordPress for iPhone just launched on the App Store. Download it now and get to blogging. We’ll have more information about the project and how you can contribute soon.

If you run into issues while using the app, we’ve got a page for reporting them up now. Before you do, please check out a few frequently asked questions.

This WordPress for iPhone app uses XML-RPC to post to your blog, so if you are using WordPress 2.6 then make sure you have it enabled under the Settings -> Writing section in wp-admin.

Version 1.0 is just the beginning, we’re already planning for new features.

Hi.

I just installed the latest version of WP in my 3G iPhone, but I can’t add my Blog: blogs.strat-cons.com.

There’s this message which keeps appearing: We could not find the XML-RPC service for your blog…

What does this mean? How can I solve it?

I have WP 2.6 and the XML-RPC controls are checked ON.

Thanks in advance.

Regards

Hi

I’m having the same problem with mi blog http://www.miguelgalve.com/blog. And already I don’t match the solution to this problem. Can you are any recent new?

Hola,

Yo también tengo el mismo problema y todavía no he conseguido solucionarlo, sabes donde puedo leer más información al respecto donde paso a paso indiquen como solucionarlo.

Muchas gracias

@Miguel Galve

You don’t have an RSD link in your header area, so that the iPhone app won’t be able to tell where the XML-RPC end point is for your blog.

@Patrick Steiner

I don’t see anything obvious that would cause a problem on your site. It might be having problems with the character set. This has been improved in the latest version the app, which should be out soon. You can test it out in the simulator as well to see if this has already been fixed.

@Joseph

Found the problem. Even though XML-RPC was selected in the WordPress settings, I had to disable and re-enable it. Seems like the “checkbox” was selected but the function not activated.

After fixing that I did run into the next problem with the XML-Parser ( Error 64 ) which was caused by two blank lines in my Workpress config-file.

Seems to work now.

Thanks

Patrick

Hello everyone. I was receiving the same XML-RPC error you were receiving, and after reading your discussion I added the RSD link to the header of my blog pages thinking this would solve my problem. You can view source here: http://www.geigel.com/acorn.php?page=blog

I have the XML-RPC option activated in WP admin area (and have deactivated/reactivated it again per the suggestion above) but now when I try to setup my connection on the iPhone I no longer receive the error I got before, but instead the WP app simply quits and I’m taken back to the iPhone main screen.

I opted to custom build my display/theme to work with my site’s design instead of using an official WP theme, but this theoretically shouldn’t affect the mechanics going on behind the scenes as it relates to xmlrpc.php — right?

Any help would be appreciated. I’d really like to be able to edit on the fly using the iPhone.

Thanks,

AG3
