While going through some old boxes I came across my FreeBSD 2.2.1 CDs:

This was the first set of FreeBSD CDs that I personally ever owned. I had installed and managed FreeBSD servers prior to that, using CDs owned by my employeer at the time (a small ISP in Modesto, CA). The very first version I ever used to do an install was FreeBSD 2.1.5, which was released during the summer of 1996.

It’s been over 13 years and while I don’t do any where near as much sysadmin work, I still have a soft spot for FreeBSD.

I remember FreeBSD and going to the FreeBSD users group in SF. I read somewhere that a lot of those guys we meet work at Apple now.
Yep, lots of the old FreeBSD devs are at Apple now.
