21 Rules of Thumb – How Microsoft develops its Software: I don’t agree with all of these, but then again I don’t work at Microsoft either.

Pink Five Strikes Back: Part two of the valley girl in a Star Wars universe.

Color Palette Creator: I’m not that great at picking out good color combinations, so I’m grateful for tools like this one.

Cross-Browser Rich Text Editor: Too bad this doesn’t work in Safari.

Ecto: Desktop blog client. I’ve always used web interfaces for blog posts, but someday I may try the ‘blog client’ idea out.

FCKeditor: Another textarea editor that doesn’t work on Safari 🙁

Feed on Feeds: If I were to move away from using Bloglines then it would likely be to something like this.

HTML Tag List: It’s an old, but great reference site for HTML tags.

How Microsoft Lost the API War: Some good points about backwards compatibility in MS Windows. I can’t help but think that if APIs were better designed and enforced from the beginning then there would be a lot less grief further down the road. I know, I know, easy to take pot shots after the fact.

Mac CVS Client: GUI CVS client for Mac OS X (and older). I’ve always just pulled open a terminal window and used the CLI CVS client. Add this to my list of software to try some day.

Highlight Responses In Mail.App: I’ve been using Mail.App for awhile now and I’m pretty happy with it. The highlight style that it uses is nice without being overwhelming.

MD5 and Passwords: A good read for getting right to the point of MD5 use for passwords.

n0dez – FreeBSD: Lots of FreeBSD links.

Mac OS X Survival Notes: Nelson’s list of must have applications on Mac OS X. Perhaps I should put together a similar list?

DSpam: I’m seriously considering DSpam as replacement for Spam Assassin, at least for my personal email account.

PostgreSQL – Tablespaces: Initial docs on PostgreSQL’s implementation of tablespaces. From what I’ve read it looks like this will be in 7.5, which should be out before the end of the year.

RSS 2.0 Spec: Specifications, they are kind of like standards, there are plenty to choose from.

The Open Source Paradigm Shift: Tim O’Reilly with some more thoughts on Open Source and business.

The Select Star Problem: SQL isn’t that bad. Don’t try to put another layer over the top of it, just use it. Learn it, love it, gripe at vendors who don’t support ‘standard’ SQL.

Hacking Policy: Some of the best quotes coming from people who didn’t think through what they are saying before they said it. This reminds me of ‘All Your Base Are Belong To Us’.

Web Page Analyzer: Calculate the amount of time it will take people to download your site at various connection speeds. I remember seeing scripts for this back in 1997.

WP-Amazon: Interesting WordPress plugin for linking to Amazon.com products. I suppose if you did something like this often this would save you a lot of time.

Xdebug: Add-on for PHP that provides some extended debugging features.

Yahoo! vs. Google: Compare the first 100 search results from Yahoo! and Google.
