I had mentioned that Brotli compression was coming to Firefox, but it was only listed as ‘in development’ for Chrome. That changed this month: Intent to Ship: Brotli (Accept-encoding: br on HTTPS connection).
A big issue to keep in mind: it will be limited to HTTPS connections.
Perhaps this will be enough to motivate Microsoft and Apple to include support as well.
