I asked him more about this, he indicated that some of the apps he had downloaded had memory leaks (he wasn’t sure which ones) and needed to reboot the phone regularly. Recording video just locks up until doing a reboot.

Is he running stock Android or a ROM? What version of Android?
I know they have made huge improvements in the later version of Android’s OS, and depending on the rom, carrier, vendor, and phone itself he may have created his own problems.
I think it is stock Android, though I don’t know that for sure.
I’m not sure what the details are for his phone, I didn’t get a chance to play with it.
Are you sure it was an Android device and not a Windows 7 phone? 🙂
