Is Meteor The Future Of Node.JS Development?

What does the next step in the evolution of Node.js look like? One answer to that question is Meteor. I found their screencast very interesting:

The idea of having a built-in framework that takes care of updates for you, on the fly, is compelling. I also liked the example of being able to work with the MongoDB data right from the client (that also scares me).

I’m not ready to abandon all other web development platforms and move strictly to Meteor, but I’ll definitely be watching it. I’d like to dig deeper into the details of what makes Meteor tick.

I saw that too, and it looks pretty impressive. I’m interested to see how it will take on challenges of running it in production and protecting your data. A few of those things sent off my internal security alarms in my brain. But exciting to see these kinds of development projects.

I’ve been tooling up on Node for a few months now; looking for excuses to build apps on it. Came across meteor about 10minutes ago, and the screencast has blown my mind.

Reminds me of seeing the Rails screencasts for the first time years ago and thinking, ‘this changes everything!’.

I’m definitely going to follow it’s development! Looks like Node is coming of age!
