Dropbox is reminding people to enable two-factor authentication as an extra layer of protection for your account.
There are a number of services that offer two-factor authentication now ( including WordPress.com ), which is really good to see. A list has been put together at twofactorauth.org of sites that support it.

To be honest, as much as I like the idea of 2FA, most of the implementation rely on SMS which is… a bummer. Not only SMS is unreliable, slow and aboslutely not user friendly, but it also fails hopelessly when on travels.
2FA could also work using other types of mechanism: direct messages on social networks for example… or even better; friends!
Totally agree on the SMS only thing, it isn’t reliable enough. I’d go even further than that, my mobile device shouldn’t need connectivity in order to generate a two factor token.
In most cases using something like the Google Authenticator app is a much better option.
